This USB 2.0 PCI card provides an easy way to add both external and internal USB ports to your system.
The card features an internal 9 pin header which can be used to fit internal USB devices to your system.
Important
Before fitting this card you MUST read the information on this page regarding the layout of the pin header on the card. Failure to follow the instructions given may result in damage to the card and to any USB device connected to the card. Your motherboard may also be damaged.
Internal Pin Header
These cards feature an internal 9 pin header. Before connecting any device to this header you must make sure that the wires in the connector are configured correctly.
The pin header uses the configuration shown in the picture below.
If you have purchased a cable from us with the PCI card then this cable will already be configured correctly.
You just need to make sure that when you fit the connector to the pin header, the red wires are connected to the pins labelled V.
If you are connecting your own cables to the pin header then you should make sure that the wires in your connector are configured as shown in the picture above. If your cable uses a different configuration then you will need to adjust the wires appropriately.
You can find information on USB pin headers and how to adjust the cables in the USB help section on this site.
Shared ports
This card is based on the popular via VT6202L chip. This chip supports 4 independent USB 2.0 ports.
Only 4 USB devices can be connected to the card at any one time.
If you are using the internal pin header then external ports 3 and 4 and the internal USB A socket are not available.
The card features additional connectors which are shared as follows :-
External ports 1 and 2 are independent and not shared.
